Overview
HP LaserJet 1020 has a printing speed of 15 pages per minute. It can create high quality printings, because it emulates a 1200 dots per inch resolution. Its dimensions are quite small and it is a light printer, so it will not take up much space on the desk. It is a laser printer, so it uses dry ink in the toner. It is a better choice to opt for a laser printer because the ink from an Ink Jet printer which uses cartridges will get dry very fast. You should opt for a laser printer for home use, like HP LaserJet 1020. This way, you will save a lot of money that you would spend on consumables.

Pros
It can print in a 1200 dpi resolution because of the HP’s Fast Res 1200. The texts are printed relatively sharp and it can even handle photographs. It is a LaserJet, so it has a green feature called Toner Save. We can say that it is a green feature because it reduces he carbon footprint and in the same time you will save a lot of money.

HP LaserJet 1020 weighs only 11 pounds and its dimensions are only 14” x 9.5 “, when the paper flip tray is closed. When it is opened, and the dust cover is in its place, the depth increases with at least 4.5”. When this printer is in standby mode, the fuser is on, so you will not have to wait until the printer warms up in order to print something.

Due to this, HP LaserJet 1020 starts printing within less than 10 seconds. It has a tray that can hold 150 sheets and 15 envelopes. The paper sizes allowed for using are between 3” x 5” and 8.5 x 14 inches. It has only one multi purpose slot where you can put labels and single-feed envelopes.

However, if you are a user who needs to print a very high amount of pages, you will have to refill the paper tray quite often. However, it should not be a problem, but you need to know that this printer was made for home use, so its paper tray capacity is enough. If you are one of those people who need a printer for an office environment or for a large size business, you should definitely opt for a printer made for those kinds of jobs, not for HP LaserJet 1020.

It has no buttons, and the control panel is made of only 2 LED lights, one is called Ready light, while the other one is called Attention light. The attention light is quite ambiguous because you will not be able to know if it is a critical error or if it is a simple paper jam, paper empty and many other things like that. Also, the manual feeds have to be done by using the computer printer interface.

Cons
It has only 2MB memory, while most models have 8MB. Also, HP LaserJet 1020 is printing at a low speed for a laser printer. Even though it is called a laser printer, the printing speed of 15 pages per minute can be outperformed by a lot of Ink Jet printers. If you do not know, there are a lot of InkJet printers witch are able to print at a speed of 20 ppm or maybe more than that.
